Why This is the Perfect Update for Your Home
Vinyl siding is rated for a 30-year life span but actually lasts much longer. Newer homes have neutral colour vinyl while older homes have colours that were popular during the time of installation that can be best described as more adventurous.
Colours in vogue today may not be tomorrow and the choice of one homeowner may not be the desired choice of the next homeowner. If you are unhappy with the look of your vinyl sided home and want to change the colour, we have your solution!
Our Proven, Tested, and Reliable Technique
If you have had the experience of having acrylic paint dripped on your vinyl siding, you know that paint will stick to that surface. Painting vinyl siding is not something new as we have been painting these surfaces for over 25 years with great success.
Choose from a Full Spectrum of Vinyl-Compatible Colours
In the past, painting vinyl siding was restricted to the same colour tone or a lighter one, as darker colours would attract heat and cause the siding to warp. This limited colour choices for clients.
The introduction of vinyl safe colour technology by major paint manufacturers has safely opened the painting of vinyl siding to almost any colour that a customer desires. There are still some colour limitations but a great selection of colours is usually available for clients.

Great Paint Is Important but Proprietary Paint Is Not
There are contracting companies that have proprietary products for vinyl siding and they do achieve great results. However, all major paint manufacturers have great products that achieve similar results. Elite Trade Painting uses Sherwin Williams products on vinyl siding and in our experience, these are the best in the industry. Using a proprietary product and service has an added cost. Our services using the top of the line Sherwin Williams products are 30-50% cheaper than your proprietary service provider.
Painted Vinyl Will Last for a Long Time
Most paint failures on the exterior of homes are caused by moisture. Water does not penetrate vinyl and hence is not susceptible to moisture related failures. Providing that the paint is fully adhered to the vinyl, the coating will last as long as the siding. Like vinyl, paint will also fade over time and may require a refresh coat in 10-15 years.
The Process
Vinyl siding painting is relatively simple; start with a power wash of the surface and after the vinyl has dried, two coats of a satin finish are then applied with a sprayer or with a brush & roller technique. The choice of application method depends on the conditions that exist with both methods achieve amazing results.
The selection of colours is made easy with Elite Trade Painting. We provide colour charts and samples as well as guide you in the use of our suppliers’ online tools.
Exterior painting is a seasonal project in most regions as rain and cold weather prevent the safe application of exterior paint products. However, the enhancement of paint products during the last number of years has allowed painting at colder temperatures. Many paints now have a quick-drying formulation that has a 1 to 2 hour no wash off feature, which allows painting in more uncertain weather conditions.
It is easy for clients to prepare for the exterior painting process. Clients must tightly close windows, move outside furniture and other items away from the building and park vehicles away from the areas being painted prior to the start of power washing and painting.
The best paint for vinyl siding is Sherwin Williams Resilience, which has a wide range of colours available. Primers are not required for the coating of vinyl siding.
The preparation process for coating vinyl siding consists of power washing all areas with a good cleaner and then rinsing them. The client may need to repair damaged pieces of siding prior to the painter’s arrival.
Vinyl siding is rated to last over 30 years and, in most cases, will remain structurally sound for many years beyond. The coating applied to vinyl will usually last as long as the siding itself. The wearing of high abrasion areas and fading of colour will occur over time and may require a refresh coat every 10 to 12 years.
