Deck Staining in Moncton

Deck staining

At Elite Trade Painting, we have over 30 years of experience in painting and staining decks for our clients in the Moncton area. We can help you protect your investment and ensure that your deck lasts as long as possible.

Why Is Deck Painting and Staining Necessary?

Decking is usually made from wood, although there are synthetic products on the market. Even pressure-treated wood takes a beating from exposure to the sun and elements. Over time, the wood of your deck will fade and warp. It will splinter and crack, eventually falling apart right before your eyes.

Painting and staining decks, railings, stairs, skirts, and other components helps to ensure that your deck not only looks great, but that it will last far longer.

Choosing the Right Product

Not sure what product is right for your deck? We can help. One of our deck staining experts will be happy to discuss the differences between solid stains and semi-transparent stains to help ensure you make the right decision.

For instance, solid stains are opaque and do not show wood grain, while semi-transparent stains do show the grain. However, solid stain can last up to five years without reapplication, while semi-transparent stains usually need to be re-coated every year or two. Paint for decks also varies significantly. We’ll help you navigate these waters and choose the right product.

What Is the Deck Staining and Painting Process?

At Elite Trade Painting, we believe in delivering outstanding results to our Moncton clients. That means starting with a perfectly prepared surface. We thoroughly clean your deck using hand washing and power washing. We also scrape, sand, and caulk to prepare your deck for staining or painting.

Only when the deck and all other components are completely clean and prepared do we begin painting or staining. We’ll apply two coats of stain or paint using sprayers, rollers, and brushes. Note that semi-transparent stains must be finished with brushes to achieve the right look and feel.

Maintaining Your Deck Over Time

In order to ensure that your deck lasts as long as possible and looks great the entire time, it must be maintained. We recommend that flat surfaces like the floors, rail toppers, and stairs, be re-coated every year to two years. Upright surfaces like rails and posts should be re-coated every three to five years.
