Want to Paint Aluminum Siding, Metal or Plastics & Vinyl?

Exterior wood Siding Painting

The painting of Ferrous Metal Surfaces

Wrought iron fences and railings require regular maintenance to protect them against the elements and the damaging effects of rust. Using top quality rust inhibiting primers and paints are a key to their longevity.

Painting your Aluminum and Metal Siding

Aluminum siding has been painted for many years with great success. Tired and faded siding can be rejuvenated with two coats of a top-quality acrylic coating. In some cases, an all-purpose metal primer may be necessary if oxidization of the metal has occurred. Your Elite estimator will recommend the best paints and primers for your aluminum siding.

Painting your Steel Siding

Steel siding is like aluminum except that it can rust. A metal primer will be applied to take care of any rust and oxidization that is present and your metal siding can be made to look new again with two coats of top-quality acrylic coating. Elite estimator will advise you on the best primers and paints for your metal siding.

Painting your Plastic and Vinyl Surfaces

It is rare that you cannot apply paint to a surface. Using the proper preparation techniques, paints and primers allows us to paint most surfaces. Painting of plastics can be a little tricky but with proper etching and primer coating, most plastic surfaces can be painted. For any questionable surfaces, your estimator will use adhesion test primers.

A common request for us is painting vinyl insert windows. A common occurrence is a stark white insert that does not work with the client’s desired look of the home. Starting with a light fine-grit sanding to insure adhesion, we can paint these with much the same process as vinyl siding; wash, and two coats of acrylic.

A Wide Range of Colours for Metal Surfaces

There are very few restrictions on the choice of colour for metal, aluminum, and vinyl surfaces. Colour choice for plastic surfaces can be more restrictive depending on the composition of the plastic. Limitations on colour almost always result from dark colour choices and the heat effects on the surface.

The selection of colours is made easy with Elite Trade Painting. We provide colour charts and samples as well as guide you in the use of our suppliers’ online tools.

Exterior painting is a seasonal project in most regions as rain and cold weather prevent the safe application of exterior paint products. However, the enhancement of paint products during the last number of years has allowed painting at colder temperatures. Many paints now have a quick-drying formulation that has a 1 to 2 hour no wash off feature, which allows painting in more uncertain weather conditions.

It is easy for clients to prepare for the exterior painting process. Clients must tightly close windows, move outside furniture and other items away from the building and park vehicles away from the areas being painted prior to the start of power washing and painting.

High-quality flat or satin finish acrylic paints are the most commonly used products for aluminium and metal siding. These products have a proven track record of durability, colour retention, and longevity. Although most of these high-quality acrylics are self-priming, an all-purpose metal primer can be used.

All siding is washed prior to coating, usually with a power washer and a good cleaning solution. We will remove any loose or peeling paint by scraping, wire brushing or sanding. We will prime areas that require primer with a multi-purpose metal primer and repair any cracks or gaps with caulk or filler.
