Is It Time to Paint Your Brickwork?
When it comes to the interior masonry in your home, there are specific brick accents that tend to require more frequent staining or painting than other parts. Typically, these areas are fireplaces and facades that are made of brick or that have brick elements in them.
When it comes to painting your brick elements, there are specific paints that are better to use than others. The reason for this is that certain paints are extremely strong (and might be more suited to exterior services), whereas the interior work needs a gentler touch.
At Elite Trade Painting in Ottawa, ON, we know all about different types of paints, and we will only use the highest-quality supplies to work on your project. As you’re doing your research, realize that the painting of masonry and brick can be done with residential over-the-counter paint. This means that if another company is saying otherwise, they’re doing so to try and get more money out of you.
You’ll still end up with a professional, high-quality project, but you’ll have paid additional money to receive it.
At Elite Trade Painting in Ottawa, ON, we choose to use great products that won’t force you to dip into your savings to buy. Our go-to products are Sherwin Williams A-100, Resilience, Dulux Diamond, or Dulux Weatherguard.
Paint Types for Brick Painting
Sherwin Williams A100
The Sherwin Williams A100 may be listed as an exterior latex (acrylic), but it is one of the best when it comes to painting brickwork. If you’re looking for a product that will retain its color for many years and that has phenomenal adhesive capabilities, then this is the product to go to. This is one of the many reasons that we swear by it.
Dulux Diamond
The Dulux Diamond series of paint is a great paint for interior projects. This is because it uses a specific and unique formula that employs stain-resistant capabilities that are more advanced than other acrylic interior paints. Additionally, other components of the phenomenal formula allow for a good – not too runny – flow as well as great leveling capabilities, and the paint also boats additional durability and an extensive increase in the ease of application and rate of drying.
This makes them very important and beneficial for areas where people are constantly traveling through.
Additionally, there are many sheens and white/off-white colorings for your consideration.
Is It Time to Stain Your Brickwork?
Like brick painting, there are many products for staining when we’re talking about brick stain. Many products offer both semitransparent and solid options so that you can get the coating result that is best for you. Most products can be bought from small boutiques or well-known manufacturers.
Stain Types for Brick Staining
Our favorite products for brick staining are PermaCrete (from Dulux) and the Sherwin Williams Loxon stain. Both products have exceptional qualities for staining, such as an enhanced ability to repel water, the capability to be used on floors, and stunning finishes/sheens on offer.
PermaCrete PPG
The PermaCrete PPG is a great and simple option if you want a high-quality stain product. Whether you need it for internal or external purposes, it offers stunning color, durability for whatever item is being stained, and protection.
Sherwin Williams Loxon
The Sherwin Williams Loxon stain is a product that is specifically engineered for use on brickwork (and concrete). They offer dozens of sealants, colors, and extensive durability against wear and tear, weather elements (if you live in an area that suffers from flooding or other natural elements), and it helps against mildew growth as well (for high-humidity locations).
