How Are Epoxy Floor Coatings Applied?
The first step in applying an epoxy floor in any business or home is to thoroughly clean the existing floor. All existing coverings must be removed, including old coats of paint. To achieve that, we use shot blasting and grinding, combined with power washing. Once the floor is clean and free of dirt, grease, paint, and other contaminants, a layer of resin and hardener is applied.
Once the catalyst (hardener) is added to the resin, it begins to cure, becoming very hard. However, the curing process can take some time. Even once the floor has cured to the point that it can support foot traffic, it may not be able to support vehicle traffic, particularly vehicles with hot tires, which may pull up the epoxy. Several days of curing will be necessary to ensure the floor is completely cured.
