Your deck expands your living area, allowing you to make better use of your exterior space. It plays a central role in summertime cookouts, family gatherings, birthdays and other celebrations, and a lot more. Shouldn’t it look its best during those times? Shouldn’t it last as long as possible? We offer deck staining for Mississauga area customers for just those reasons.
Our Deck Staining Process
We have been staining decks in Mississauga for decades at this point, and we have our process down to a science. Of course, that process is focused on you and what you want to achieve with the staining process. So, the first step is to choose the right product for your deck.
We offer solid stains, semi-transparent stains, and more to help ensure that you can achieve the look and level of protection that you want for your deck and other exterior wood elements. Solid and semi-transparent stains are similar, but very different in some ways, so an informed decision here is important. Our experts will help you choose the best solution.
After choosing the right product for your needs, we move on to the next step, which is power washing and hand washing the wood to remove dirt, debris, dust, pollen, and mould to ensure the cleanest surface possible. If necessary, we also scrape the deck to remove stubborn build-up. All of our stains are self-priming, so there is no priming necessary. However, sanding and caulking may be needed before applying the stain itself.
Stain Application
When it comes to staining decks in Mississauga, we offer several application methods and may use a combination of different techniques depending on the configuration and size of your deck. With solid stains, brushing, rolling, and spraying can all be used. However, with semi-transparent stains, we usually use brushes, or rollers and then finish with brushes to achieve the best possible look.
Maintaining the Deck at Your Mississauga Home
Deck maintenance is not particularly difficult, but it must be done regularly in order to protect the wood properly. Your deck is exposed to the elements all year long, and must also contend with salt or de-icer, high foot traffic, shovelling, and more. We recommend recoating deck floors, steps, and rail tops every year to two years. We recommend recoating upright segments (rails, skirts, etc.) every three to five years.
