Brick and Masonry: Painting and Staining for Edmonton Homes and Businesses

Brick and masonry (concrete) have long been used in the building of homes and commercial properties. These materials are incredibly durable, capable of lasting for decades. However, they are not impervious to exposure to the elements, nor are they immune to the way that tastes and trends change. Brick and masonry painting and staining in Edmonton can help add beauty and a unique aesthetic to your home or business.

Can Brick and Masonry Be Painted?

Yes, brick and masonry painting and staining has been performed for a long time. Of course, the right products are necessary to ensure a quality job and that the results last. We prefer to use Dulux Weathergard, Dulux Diamond, or Sherwin Williams A-100 or Resilience for all brick and masonry painting. We’ve found that these products are the most cost effective, and have the longest lifespan.

For staining, we prefer to use Dulux Perma Crete, as well as Permatint. These products are available in a range of shades, and both are solid stains with a built-in primer for ease of application.

How Does Brick and Masonry Painting and Staining Work?

In almost all instances, the first step in painting or staining your brick or masonry exterior will be to power wash it. This is necessary to remove dirt, dust, pollen, and mould that would otherwise affect the paint or stain.

Once the exterior has been cleaned and has dried, we get to work applying the paint or stain. With painting, we will usually apply two coats and we will use rollers, sprayers, and brushes. However, note that some colours will require more than two coats in order to ensure an optimum outcome.

With stain, we apply two coats, and because the products we use include a primer, there is no need to prime the surface first. Note that many stain products have a thin viscosity, which means we will need to take precautions to avoid it coming into contact with other surfaces.

We’re also happy to offer full coverage or individual brick and masonry coverage to suit your needs and tastes.

What Colours Are Offered?

We are proud to offer a very wide range of colours for your home or business. Note that colour selection will have an impact on the number of coats needed for full coverage, and that will affect total cost.
